WALT: Write an effective argument for our chosen political party

Some policies may be true, but will just lie. I believe that nz first is best, BUT, I might be wrong. I’m going to talk about two of nz first’s policies about the environment and one policy I believe is bad. The policies are to clean urban waterways(#1), ending the use of 1080 poison (#2) and another party that wants to abolish national standards. And without further ado, I will now explain some of the true and bad policies.

CLEAN UP URBAN WATERWAYS(number one)

One of nz first’s policies for the environment is to clean up urban waterways. What the party means, is that it will try to clean the cities’ rivers and waterways and strip them of pollution, and it will bring back all the native fish that used to live there and they will repopulate the rivers and waterways to their former glory! Plus, the rivers and waterways will make the cities look a lot nicer and it will be safer for pedestrians if they accidentally fall into a river because there won’t be any sharp things (like glass and broken metal.) so that’s about it with the first policy, so let’s get on with the second policy

END THE USE OF 1080 POISON(number two)

This policy is about ending the use of 1080 poison and start funding for alternatives. 1080 poison is (obviously) a type of poison that pest control uses to eradicate pests( stoats, weasels, etc.), unfortunately, it also pollutes the rivers of nz, destroys the environment, kills livestock(such as cows, sheep, etc.) and kills pets(dogs, cats, etc.,) and because it pollutes rivers, it’s a hazard to people and animals alike. So what nz first is would try to fund for a search of alternatives that won’t cause danger to the environment. It might also be cheaper getting the alternatives, making it possible for more money to go to charity. That’s it for the ending the use of 1080 poison, so now i’m going to talk about a policy I don’t like.

ABOLISH NATIONAL STANDARDS(the bad one)

I’m not really on board with abolishing national standards. Sure, it’s probably the only reason a kid will vote for that party, since it’s just about every kids dream. This policy, like I said in the first sentence, is a really bad one and it doesn’t have a good ending, either. If the party abolishes national standards, it could make a major catastrophe, parents won’t know how well their child(ren) at school, it would be parents asking themselves “what‘s (are) our child(ren) good at?” and “will he get a good job?” they don’t know because there will be no national standards.Without  national standards, it could lower the chances of getting a good job, aka a dream job, which could make them very sad and frustrated.So these are the reasons why it’s such a terrible policy, because it will make child(ren) lower the chance of any type of a good job and it will make them dumber, so if you want to improve your childs’ education, cross that party of your list! So that’s the end of that, we can start wrapping it up.

So there you have it, this is why I think nz first is the best to vote for. Because I know that it will try its’ best.I have talked about what nz first will try to do, and the cleanup of urban waterwaysare only the beginning.So who will you go for,nz first or something else? ‘Cause I’m voting for nz first, the best!

In the Koru Games the sport I competed in was football

Our team won quite a few games (I can't say exactly how much because I wasn't counting)

I found the experience to be strange because It felt really different with the positions

In terms of working with Individuals and Groups; my solo level is unistructual because it's really hard to do it with different people and I feel more confident with a group of my friends

For Teamwork; my solo level is multistructual because I can work in a small group and respect it

Term 1 novel study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel dragon keeper.

I found this novel (interesting, ok etc)  because it was full of action and adventurous.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

                        term 1 book review 

The book I enjoyed in term 1 was Ranger's Apprentice. It's about a boy named Will and his teacher Halt and they are both rangers
( Halt is, anyway, otherwise it would called something else like The Rangers or something like that.) People were a little scared of rangers because they think they have arcane powers and they mostly believed that because of their cloaks since they had a pattern that let them blend in with the background. This is a fantasy and adventure book series.

In Current Events I covered these topics:

My favourite topic was Halswell skate park because we got to say what we wanted in the skate so it

My superhero narrative

WHAT? I have been writing a superhero narrative

SO WHAT? It's about a mysterious superhero named Ancient Knight and his pets, Alpha the magic wolf and Kay the magic stallion.

We use past tense words unless it's inside speech marks, and new speaker, new line

NOW WHAT? I want it to sound more exciting so I need to use better vocabulary

When the year 5's were on camp

When the year 5's were on camp, we had Mrs Casey until they came back.We made plans, but I think I was the only one that made a plan by themselves. I followed my plan, well, most of it.

I planned to do art, SSW, crosswords, word searches, superhero stuff, reading, PP making and other stuff. I also put in specific times, like superhero, 09:25 - 09:50, etc. Not everything went to plan and I changed some stuff, but it was OK.

I really enjoyed doing the Kahoots and sand art. I also enjoyed doing a crossword and word searches. For free time we did Kahoots, puzzles, superhero stuff and passion projects. We had a good time.

WHAT? This week is Literacy week. There was a dress up day, stop, drop and read/write and many different things.

SO WHAT? I enjoyed the dress up day and my costume was Tintin. The thing I most enjoyed stop, drop and read.

I have done two lanes at the same time, safety stuff, dives and swimming skills.

I have enjoyed doing the safety stuff.

What?

I am learning to understand how words are formed using roots, prefixes and suffixes.

So What?

I have learned that words that have the root hydra- and aqua- mean water. For example, hydrate means to add water or moister to something.

I have learned that words that have the root spect- mean look / see. For example, a spectator is a person that looks at something.

Now what?

I feel that I have a beginning understanding of the root words aqua-, hydra-, and spect-

This week I have been focusing on how to write a drop-in clause

SO WHAT?

Here is an example of a drop-in clause

Mr Forman is our teacher.	He loves his red car.
Mr Forman, who is our teacher, loves his red car.

Mr Forman is the subject of the sentence.

We change ‘He’ to ‘who’

We place commas around the clause we ‘drop-in’
